Frequently Asked Questions
What to expect
Having made contact with Hadleigh Low Cost Counselling, you will be offered an initial introductory session. If you decide you would like to go ahead, you will be offered a further 9 sessions. Therapy sessions are once a week, at the same time each week, and last 50 minutes. Payment will be required at each appointment. As part of the service, you will be asked to complete some paperwork which help us to review your counselling and the service we offer.
All our qualified therapists working at Hadleigh Low Cost Counselling have their own Private Practices in Sudbury, Dedham, Colchester and Hadleigh. If you are looking for a therapist and don't need to access the reduced fee service, we can recommend and refer you on to one of our therapists private practices. We also have mature student counsellors working with us on training placements.
Confidentiality
Our counsellors adhere to the confidentiality guidelines outlined in the Ethical Framework for Good Practice under the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). All information discussed with your counsellor is confidential and will not be shared with anyone outside the counselling service. However, if there are safeguarding concerns that you may be at risk of harming yourself or others, we would need to contact your GP. Wherever possible, every effort would be made to discuss this with you beforehand.
Cancellations
Counselling works best if you attend regularly, on a weekly basis. If you wish to cancel an appointment, we ask that you give us 24 hours notice. If notice is not given, your missed session will be counted as one of your ten allocated sessions. If two appointments are missed consecutively without notice, we will assume that you have decided not to continue with the counselling and your appointments will come to an end. However, should you wish to come for counselling in the future, you are very welcome to get in touch.
